Sharing Our Stories

Raising four future citizens of the world has shown me just how powerful a rising tide can be. In BSD, that tide is the Bellevue Schools Foundation. My children have benefited, directly and indirectly, from preschool tuition support for families, mental health resources, and early computer science education that prepared them for the world they’re stepping into. When BSF lifts our district, every family rises with it, and every child gains the chance to thrive.

The staff truly care, the programs actively engage students, and every child is encouraged to grow as an individual. More than just a school, it’s a place where students feel seen, challenged, and valued. 

I deeply appreciate how diversity is not just present at Tillicum but embraced. Students from all backgrounds are treated with respect and inclusion, creating a school culture where everyone feels they truly belong. 

The real soul of Tillicum Middle School is its staff. The teachers and administrators are the glue of the community. Their dedication goes beyond academics—they care as deeply, if not more, than we parents do. Whether it's chaperoning dances, attending evening events, or simply showing up with kindness and patience every day, the staff’s unwavering support has left a lasting impression. 

A special thank you to Mr. Steer—an outstanding principal and role model whose leadership has shaped the culture of this incredible school. 

Tillicum staff members understand that the key to unlocking student potential lies in the authenticity of the relationships we develop with them. Students won’t care about what we know until they know that we care.

I have worked at Tillicum Middle School for 20 years and can honestly say I appreciate every single staff member here. Having subbed at other schools, I believe here at Tillicum, we have a unique, cohesive and caring staff. Even more so, as a parent, both my kids are thriving — all because of our amazing staff. Tillicum is the best middle school ever and the staff is what makes us the best! 

I really enjoyed performing in the musical Aladdin at Tillicum. Everyone was so nice and friendly and I made so many new friends. I felt included and accepted.
